Position Description
We are searching for summer interns who will work onsite at the Hudson Valley Credit Union
branch in Poughkeepsie, New York. This position will participate in special projects and
activities relating to the credit administration, financial analysis, and servicing of loans. The
internship may include exposure to various groups and tasks and is a great opportunity to get a
wider perspective of Hudson Valley Credit Union. Since your school is an Opus Edge partner,
your room and board will also be paid. The internship will pay you $8,000 for the full ten week
program.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Over the ten-week experience, you will participate in a variety of day-to-day activities depending
on the team to which you are aligned. You will be paired with a senior team of professionals and
may work with different types of clients including consumers, companies, and institutions.
You will also be required to participate in two online courses led by industry experienced
professors. The first class will teach you work ready skills and the second will train you in credit
union/financial organization operations with an emphasis on fraud detection and prevention.
Potential Activities Include
• Analysis of client financial information, identification/mitigation of potential risks,
compliance with regulatory requirements and evaluation of collateral to determination of
credit worthiness
• Participate in loan structure conversations and completion of loan documentation
• Complete monitoring activities
• Review and evaluate collateral to ensure appropriate requirements are met
• Analyze clients’ financial performance by comparing it to past performance
• Complete cash-flow analysis to understand the client’s ability to repay
• Attend client meetings to develop a deeper understanding of the client’s business,
management team, and past and future performance
• Review completed client requests to ensure compliance with policy and procedures and
assess if business controls are appropriate
• Participate in the end-to-end data management process to understand how credit data is
used internally and provided to regulatory partners
