I enjoy staying updated with New Paltz’s available career resources that are relevant for networking with professionals in my major. Through my internship, I have developed connections with many of the highly animated and knowledgeable career specialists. Most of all, guiding my peers on their resumes or cover letters makes my day after seeing them walk out of the CRC with a smile!

One highlight from my internship with the CRC is meeting a large variety of students through 1:1 sessions! Namely, I have met with upperclassmen in my major (communication disorders) applying to graduate programs and those seeking a first-year internship. Working with such a diverse student population pushes me outside of my comfort zone in developing interpersonal skills of speaking with purpose and connecting to each individual entering the doors of the CRC.

There was one specific instance where a student came back to the CRC and informed a career specialist that they felt supported throughout their 1:1 resume review session. I felt a lot of gratification to hear that my feedback made an impact on someone’s professional experience.
