Elizabeth Brennan is a graduate student at the State University of New York at New Paltz. Elizabeth is a first-generation college student attaining her masters degree in Literacy. She has her initial certification in NYS to teach Early Childhood (B-2) and Childhood (1-6). During her undergrad she majored in Early Childhood and Childhood Education with a concentration in History. She is also in the process of attaining her extension in History for grades 7 – 12. She is a commuter student from Westchester County, and works at the Boys & Girls Club (BGC) of Northern Westchester as a Power Hour teacher. Over the summer (2019), Liz created and ran a Magic Tree House: Around the World Reading Program, and in the summer of 2018 a Brain Gain Fifa Reading Program which featured learning about different countries around the world that played in the Fifa World Cup. In 2018, Liz was the Registrar for the BGC and learned many tech tools that she has brought to
the table as the first-ever EdTech Fellow in the SUNY New Paltz Center for Innovation in Education @ New Paltz (CIE@NP). In the past, she worked with the Jacob Burns Movie theater during the Minds and Motion partnership program with BGCNW to help kids create claymation and stop-action movies. Liz shares a passion for technology, history, and working with students to help attain their dreams.
She was recently featured in a SUNY New Paltz News article titled “Education majors lead movement to unlock potential of new K-12 technology,” for her efforts in Educational Technology for Teacher Preparation.
Liz is also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Education Honor society, and the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society.
