90 Minutes to Die: Film Noir

Film Noir is French term used to describe post World War II crime dramas. Darkly cynical, and oftentimes unforgiving to the protagonist, these films revolutionized storytelling; its tenets are still used today by major filmmakers. We will investigate the historical factors and influences that gave rise to films focusing on the story, aesthetics, and darkness present in the genre, which clearly pushed back against Hollywood norms
