Barbie dolls and how they shape the definitions of childhood:

Welcome to my ENG170.17 Hawksite!

In the Cultural Analysis essay and each assignment drafted as an element of it, I chose Barbie dolls as a symbol to represent childhood. Having grown up with many of my own, I knew them to be a major source of comfort and development in some of the earliest stages of my life. However, exploring the many contrasting assertions regarding their positive and negative effects on childhood helped me form a newfound opinion — one that has not only enlightened me, but opened my eyes to the potentially jarring implications of doll play.  My hope is that my written work, created in light of several sources discussing these implications, will help to educate readers and help them to form their own opinions on this matter.
