Fall Festival 2019

Asian Studies celebrated Fall Festival (中秋節) in late October in the lobby of Sojourner Truth Library. Akira Shimada, the program director of Asian Studies Department gave opening remarks with Professor Yongli Li (Coordinator of Chinese language studies) explained more about Mid-Autumn Festival. Performances, presentations, and food were provided by students of the East- West Living and Learning Community (EWLLC). The performances consisted of a cover from the popular Disney movie Moana “How Far I’ll Go” sang in Japanese, and Soran Bushi, a traditional Japanese fisherman dance. Other activities included a calligraphy table, and a goldfish scooping game. Guests were also encouraged to try mooncakes, a food that is typically eaten during mid-autumn festival.
