Mid-Autumn Festival Fall 2022

On the Wednesday evening of September 21st 2022, the Asian Studies Program held our Mid-Autumn Festival event, co-sponsored by the Center for International Programs!

This was the first in person Mid-Autumn festival at SUNY New Paltz after two years online, due to the COVID pandemic. It was a great way for us all to celebrate reunion and enjoy the festivities!

We opened with a welcome from Professor Shimada, followed by a brief presentation on what the Mid-Autumn festival is.

Next we enjoyed a special musical performance, sung in Chinese by Professor Lu’s Chinese 201 class!

We then had the pleasure of a special guest performance in traditional Chinese calligraphy and art, by renowned artist Bi Guanliang!

Bi gifts final painting to the Asian Studies department. We are so grateful to him for his performance and gift!

Finally we continued our celebration with origami, calligraphy, party games, and food and mooncakes!

Thank you to all who came and celebrated with us. We had a great turnout and a lot of fun. We hope to see you again next year! 中秋节快乐!
