Japanese Language Internship
Part-Time Position
Kohei Ando is an award-winning Japanese experimental filmmaker and video artist whose career spans five decades. As a pioneering figure in the rise of video art and an early practitioner of HD video production, Ando’s films exhibit technical mastery, stylistic virtuosity, and narrative richness as seen in works such as Oh! My Mother (1969), The Waltz (1976), My Collections (1988), and After Twilight (1995). Mr. Ando will publish his newest book Whispers of Vermeer – The Dog Lapis Lazuli in November 2021. Presently, the book is scheduled only to be published in Japan. I have been collaborating with Mr. Ando to have his book published and sold in the United States to increase his visibility to Western audiences. Later this year, Mr. Ando will provide me with a Japanese copy of his text that will require Japanese-to-English translation. Information on the book’s publication details and total page count are forthcoming.
