When writing the Multimodal Analysis Essay, I gained knowledge in detail and content because the entire time I had to write as if the person reading my paper has no idea what I am talking about and has never seen the film/images I have seen to write this. I made the mistake of being vague and stating certain facts without details that could further explain my thesis, so with feedback and learning from past mistakes I was able to write my paper with the clear thought that my reader doesn’t know what I’m talking about, so I must be as detailed as I possibly can with sticking to the main goal which was proving my thesis. Another writing advantage I received through this writing process was gaining a curious mind about what I am seeing because the film had many details that contributed to the propaganda and without an open mind, you would’ve missed the words, tone, and music. When I first heard the film, the words were clear to me, but it wasn’t until it was pointed out to me that the music shifts often to correlate to what’s being said which impacts our way of receiving it. Once I realized all aspects of the film were set for a certain reason I heard and saw the film as a series of comments that were meant to be unraveled. Which in my opinion had to be the most difficult part because understanding it is great once you’ve put the pieces together but it can be difficult to write it in a way that is without a doubt clear and comprehensible to anyone, regardless if they’ve seen the film or not. It took a long revisal process to get my words to say exactly what I wanted to say. The entire process was a lesson for future assignments because I learned how to expand my ideas with detailed pieces of writing, film, video, etc and see what others can’t because I have been able to see past what the author wanted us to see before.
