Reflective Cover Letter
Dear ePortfolio Readers,
Hello again, it is Amin Paredes. Throughout this semester I have shown my best efforts to maintaining a passing grade as it was a class of struggle for me in high school. Coming into ENG170 a few of my main goals were to not fall behind in English, and to maintain a passing grade because I used to struggle with falling behind.
One thing I learned in my minor assignment two was how to properly indent my MLA8 citation as this was a struggle for me last semester in ENG160. Coming into this semester I was focused on improving my MLA8 skills and with this paper I definitely got better at it. I ended up using this skill again throughout my Major project. I also learned how to properly complete the works cited page as before I would not put the citations in alphabetical order. This skill I used a lot since I had to complete many works cited pages this semester. One example of knowledge that would be helpful to me in my future studies is being efficient using Microsoft Office, as I intend to become a computer science major. This skill will ultimately help me because I most likely would have to complete slideshows in the future. I enjoyed creating my Virtual Presentation because of how creative I wanted to be (make sure to check that out!).
One area I consider growing the most in is using technology to complete various assignments. Due to COVID this semester was again like the last one with no in person instruction leading me to having to use technology for way more assignment than I would usually need to in a classroom. Another area where I believe I grew on this semester was engaging in the research process. I enjoyed finding somebody like me to interview about their first-year experiences on campus. Asking this person questions wanted me to keep asking others to see if they would have similar experiences.
I am considering my MLA8 formatting as one of my strengths as a writer because like I mentioned it was one thing, I carried over from ENG160 to improve on, and I ultimately did find myself getting better at it. One area that needs more growth in my writing will be conducting better research from the Sojourner Truth Library, by conducting better searches when I am looking for my evidence.
I would like to take some time to give a huge thanks to Professor Rigolino for being patient with me and giving me great feedback when I needed it the most. I would also like to take time to thank the faculty members for taking time to review my ePortfolio.
Sincerely,
Amin Paredes
