Program Values

All participants are asked to review and respect the following program values. These will be covered during the program Orientation.

  • We will use the Circle Way as a model for participation.
  • We acknowledge and accept the history of anti-black racial violence in the United States, and the continuing impact of white supremacy–both in institutions and individuals.
  • We acknowledge that our work is part of a lineage of antiracist activism that will continue long after us.
  • We acknowledge that we all have something to learn about antiracist work, regardless of whether this is our first or fiftieth engagement with antiracism.
  • We understand that we will be uncomfortable during this program, and we will accept and sit with this discomfort. We will actively build skills around examining and navigating our emotions in regards to racism and antiracism.
  • We will center the safety of participants who are Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC).
  • We acknowledge that we are going to make mistakes in this work. We will own our mistakes and learn from them.
