Throughout my life, my parents have emphasized the importance of sibling bonds. They ensured that I had a strong relationship with my younger brother, Chris. This bond has significantly impacted the person I am today. Taking care of my brother helped me develop invaluable qualities, such as patience, cooperation, and responsibility. As I built upon these skills, I became a much better student. I am also fortunate enough to call Chris my best friend. He is a source of both undying support and brutal honesty, which makes him a great brother. While he is not afraid to point out my bad habits, I know that he always has my best interests at heart. He also knows how to make me laugh regardless of the circumstances. Finally, Chris is one of the few people I can talk to about anything without fear of being judged.
Each year, my extended family takes a vacation to the Outer Banks (OBX). The Outer Banks was the location of some of my fondest memories. One year, I tackled two of my greatest fears as a child – crabs and heights. Late-night crab hunting and a ropes course are family traditions, and I was eventually forced to participate. I managed to overcome my anxiety and ended up enjoying both activities. Although I love to spend time with my family, the main appeal of OBX is its soothing atmosphere. The beach is very spacious, which provides plenty of space for relaxation. Additionally, the view of the ocean is beautiful, particularly at night. I have spent many hours looking out on the water, listening to the waves crash, and tossing sand between my toes.
Having a car has impacted my life in ways that I never imagined. For example, I have always struggled with attention span, particularly in school. However, being a good driver requires complete focus. Since I started driving, it has become easier to focus in class. I find myself more engaged in classroom discussions, taking better notes, and improving as a test-taker. In addition, I find driving to be very therapeutic.
