Major Project
Synopsis/Reflection:
In the essay, “Roads in the Hudson Valley and the US Need to Improve”, I go into detail discussing the state of roads in the Hudson Valley region of New York as well as throughout the United States. I state in the essay that a significant portion of roads in America are in poor condition and can be a major safety hazard for drivers, and that we must take steps to improve the roads to make driving safer for everyone. I also discuss possible solutions to fix America’s infrastructure crisis as well as discuss the costs of doing so.
This is an important topic because millions of miles of roads in the country are in poor condition, whether they are scattered with potholes, cracks or otherwise. This is serious because it is a major safety hazard to millions of safe, responsible drivers who can get into life-threatening accidents on these roads, even if they were driving safely and responsibly. I chose it because my hometown of Monroe and the rest of Orange County, New York have very badly damaged roads with a significant number of potholes, and I wanted to let my audience know that this is a serious issue that cannot be neglected. My hope for my ePortfolio readers when they read the essay is they will contact their local representatives to get this issue resolved or spread awareness about America’s infrastructure crisis.
