The English Department’s Graduate Program Publication, The Shawangunk Review, was created by H.R. Stoneback and carries on his legacy of supporting new scholars in all academic and creative endeavors.

The Shawangunk Review is available as a digital publication with a worldwide readership. You can now read all back issues online, including that first volume. The journal is a lasting memorial to Harry Stoneback, who saw the volume through thirty editions. For the memorial issue following Stoney’s passing, linked here, we have compiled remembrances from each of the co-editors who collaborated with Harry over the years on the Review. They share stories, their favorite issues and contributions, and appreciations for this now indelible part of our campus culture.

The 2023 Symposium, coordinated by Dr. Fiona Paton, Stoney’s dear friend, former student, and colleague, follows in print the following Spring 2024.

The Graduate Program and current editors are planning on publishing poems in tribute to Stoney in Spring 2024 alongside of the student papers on American Literature curated for this Symposium to create a full volume of the Shawangunk Review dedicated to Stoney.

Submissions for the tribute section will be due Summer 2023 to Joann Deiudicibus, guest poetry editor’s attention: deiudicj@newpaltz.edu.

General submission questions can be directed to the English Department Graduate Director and primary Editor, Dr. Cyrus Mulready.
