I decided to choose this image because I thought it greatly explained the way humans are affected by air pollution. It shows how the presence of pollution is everywhere and yet many individuals are unaware of our heavy contribution to pollution and how much we come in contact with it on a daily basis. This picture shows a nose inhaling all the pollution in the environment including air pollution that has been created by industries, littering, garbage and other human activities. Within the image, the movement of the fumes and gases in the polluted atmosphere being inserted into the nose emphasizes how such pollutants can be easily inhaled. It also shows how the air is being directed to the nose because of the individual willfully smells in the air. The size and proportion of the nose compared to the environment expresses the dreadful amount of contaminated air humans intake. The use of movement and proportion in the image is important to consider because it metaphorically expresses people’s ignorance or cluelessness of the environmental issue at hand. This image depicts how most of the air around isn’t clean and is filled with pollutants, chemicals, and gases. In addition, the picture shows the growing landfill and the lack of action communities have taken to condense it. The image symbolizes people’s desire to advance in the society while neglecting the reoccurring drawbacks that prevent societies from developing in the most sustainable way possible. It’s imperative to recognize that if environmental issues such as air pollution continue to expand, there will only be setbacks and negative consequences taking place.
