From the Editors

The 36th annual Graduate Symposium marked another milestone for our graduate program and department. As we have since 1989, we celebrated a successful collaboration between graduate students and faculty. On behalf of the Graduate Program, we want to thank all participants, including our keynote speaker, Jane Hwang Degenhardt, Professor of English at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, for their contributions to this edition. Special thanks, also, to Vicki Tromanhauser, English Department Chair, for her generous support of the event.

This year’s collection continues to feature poetry from current and recent students, including those in our M.A. in Creative Writing Program alongside of well-known authors from the faculty and community, such as our Ulster County Poet Laureate.

The submission deadline for Volume 37 of the Review is January 15, 2026. We welcome poetry, book reviews, and critical essays concerning any area of literary studies. Please see submission guidelines here.

Thanks also to Adi DeBenedetto & Sydney Shulman-Arno, English Department Graduate Assistants, for their work on this issue of the Shawangunk Review.
