My creative thesis is a young adult/new adult fantasy novel with the working title of The Luna Bloodline. The setting takes place in the fantastical realm of Tazamine which consists of the Five Allied Countries. The social hierarchy of this society prioritizes the Royals, respects the Warriors, and consists mainly of those of magic, but humans (referred to as Normals) continue to make up a small percentage of the population.
Our protagonist, Scarlet Luna, is faced with an immediate conflict of being born into a legendary Warrior bloodline but gifted Artemisia magic on her coming-of-age day. The coming-of-age day usually presents a newly eighteen-year-old with their full Datura powers, but Artemisia magic was only gifted to those of the Royal bloodline. Artemisia magic could only be acquired by birth right or marriage into the Royal Amello family and is often thought of as a gift from the Gods themselves.
After being exposed to the political corruption riddling the Five Allied Countries, Scarlet is forced to sacrifice the love she has for her soulmate, give up her family legacy, and taint her morality to hide her Artemisia magic. Scarlet is forced to trust the Royal prince, Augustus Amello, who claims he can save her life on one condition; she will save the realm. Augustus vows to marry Scarlet as a cover up for her being gifted this rare magic in exchange for her Warrior mindset leading the Tazamine realm through an impending war as their Queen.
In Scarlet’s pursuit to hide the truth she becomes engrossed in her Warrior instincts and obsesses over the war with the Forsaken Realm. Scarlet soon realizes she shares an uncommon bond with the Queen of the Forsaken realm. Soul sisters come once every thousand years with the purpose of turning a blackened soul pure, and so Scarlet is faced with another form of war. An internal battle tempts Scarlet as the Queen of the enemy realm, Estella Crow, is also gifted Artemisia magic. The war grows complicated as deception, love, lust, corruption, and power struggles play out in a dangerous series of events.
