Dear Ricardo,
The south turf is one of the most beautiful places on campus and I have to bring you there. I’ve never seen such a clear view of mountains till I walked on that field for the first time, and the sunsets are impeccable. Being there makes you feel like you’re looking into a different world compared to the water on Long Island. Walking to the turf is like walking to a new scene and you nearly forget you’re sitting at a turf for sports. The photographs of the stars that I’ve taken there have been beyond beautiful and it’s my favorite place to take my art at night to relax. I would like to take you there and show you all the amazing constellations that you wouldn’t see on Long Island. The memories that I’ve made there have also made my college experience all the more worth it, especially the cool new friends I’ve made while being here.
The turf was made in 2015 and is used by field hockey, soccer, and lacrosse teams. It’s a brand new field and has a new state of the art filtration system and is similar to the turfs back at Schreiber high school. I most enjoy the center of the turf which has the Hawks logo printed and looks very sleek and sporty. My favorite spot to sit and enjoy the scenery is the center solely on the fact that it has the most satisfying view of the mountains and at night has the best view to see alls the stars at night. I think you would enjoy it tremendously. It’s a completely different view from Port Washington. There we see the beautiful bay and the boats lined across the coast however the mountains have a different type of feeling that Port Washington could never expose.
This is the number one spot I must show you on campus. Not to mention on my first night on campus, me and a few of the new friends spent the entire night outside on the turf and enjoyed the sunset and sunrise together. You should have been there, it was exhilarating. My new friends were so chill and cool not a single person wanted to leave that night. Everyone stayed on the turf and enjoyed the sunset to sunrise like it was nothing. All of us were so tired and delusional that we all became instant friends that night and everyone couldn’t stop talking about how memorizing the view was.
The Turf is most definitely a must for us to go visit when you come to visit. I love going there to sit and relax, or even to just take a quick phone call. There’s not much history behind the south turf especially because it was only made a few years ago, however I find it to be the most satisfying spot to sit at in all of campus. Seeing the view of the mountains is such a different scenery and although nothing will ever beat the view of the Long Island Sound which has the most enchanting views ever, looking at the mountains gives a very peaceful and calming environment to the campus.
