“Ada Lovelace, the First Tech Visionary”

I found this article about Ada Lovelace very interesting because I have never learned much about her. Several aspects of her life interested me. I like that they used her as an example of what a woman can do when she is given a chance. They use her as an example because she was not allowed to learn mathematics but encouraged others to learn it. I was also interested to learn about the analytical engine Lovelace was able to publish her translation and notes about the machine and that it would be her greatest contribution to computer science. I wasn’t surprised to read that later scholars would argue if she actually wrote the notes herself. I feel that because she took on such a male-dominated area at the time, that her accomplishments would be questioned. Overall, I enjoyed learning about an important woman figure that I did not know much about. One thing I would teach my students ab0ut from her life is the fact that she approached a problem she had (wanted to fly), did a lot of research, material research, and recorded her findings. I feel that this a method I want to teach my students to approach a problem methodically and do research to solve the problem. Another theme I got from reading about Lovelace that I would want my students to learn is to let any reason stop them from doing something whether it be gender like it was for Lovelace, or anything else. The third theme I would want my students to learn is working collaboratively to create something successful.
