Nick Michelli is Presidential Professor in the Ph.D. Program in Urban Education at the CUNY Graduate Center specializing in Policy Studies, Leadership and Educating Educators. Nick’s scholarship works toward enhancing the education of educators and the lives of children in urban centers and building school university partnerships towards that end. When he was Dean at Montclair State University in New Jersey, he founded the nation’s first Center of Pedagogy in 1994, a center which still operates. He is member of the Governing Council and Executive Committee of the National Network for Educational Renewal, and was the first chair of the organization. His critiques of current policy have been featured in Education Week, and he has made 12 trips to the Middle East in the last 6 years working with the first universities admitting women in Muslim theocracies to help them achieve accreditation as a mark of international recognition to improve their standing within the university. His latest book, with his colleagues in the Middle East and elsewhere, is Teacher Quality and Teacher Education Quality: Accreditation from a Global Perspective. It will be published by Routledge in November.
