As someone who spent a lot of time growing up in front of the television screen, I couldn’t be more fortunate than ever to chose a course of study that is all about the production of content on which these screens broadcast. I have always wanted to see what the whole production process was like, from development and pre-production to post production and distribution. The internet definitely was the “go-to” place to learn about the whole process, before I started my education in Digital Media Production. Once I took Introduction to Television Production in the 12th grade, I knew this was what I wanted to do. Learning how to perfectly edit and match up pictures and sound, develop and write a well-structured script, and operate delicate and complex equipment in the studio and on location were really what excited me (and still do) and hopefully it will lead to me landing a long-time dream job in television.
Media is an ever-changing and exciting field. The ways we watch content have constantly changed over time. I believe that as someone interested in entertainment and television production, it is essential to reach the needs of an audience with more options then ever before. I also believe the most important aspect in scripted and unscripted production is creativity. Audiences want something unique and different every time they watch the newest episode on television or online or when they are watching a movie. They won’t like what they are seeing if it isn’t entertaining or creative. As we continue to expand our digital presence in the 21st century, I believe that we must continue to innovate and improve upon ways to meet the demands of a large and diverse audience.
