Welcome to our site! If you have an interest in the correlation between race and poverty over the course of 1970-2010 then you my friend, are in the right place! We have produced maps showing race and poverty in the US by county/state for the years 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, and 2010. All of our data is drawn from census records with CartoDB, which also assisted in helping to look at connections between race and poverty over time via interactive maps. Check out our maps as well as our blog post (which explain how history has an effect on statistics.) We hope that you find our research as interesting as we did!
A special thank you to Professor Swafford who assisted us in our research and taught us everything we know about Digital Humanities! It was a pleasure!
Enjoy and explore!!!
Sincerely- Miranda, Orly, Jesse and Jordon
