The SUNY New Paltz photography program is housed in the Old Library Building at the North end of campus along with the graphic design program.

The following workspaces are available for students to use:

  • 107C – Photo Classroom – our large lecture and critique space, which can be used by students outside of class time to pin-up work.
  • 106 – The Crit Room – a large open room for viewing large prints and critique space. Also home to our 44″ Epson printer
  • 107A – DPL lab – the primary classroom space for digital-based courses
    • 18 iMac computers
    • 3x Epson V850 flatbed scanners with film holders for 35mm, 120, and 4×5
    • 4x Epson Stylus Pro 3880 inkjet printers (up to 17″ wide sheet paper)
    • 2x Epson Stylus Pro 4880 inkjet printers (up to 17″ wide sheet or roll paper)
    • 2x Imacon/Flextight virtual drum scanners with holders for 35mm, 645, 6×6, 6×7, and 4×5
    • Lightbox for viewing negatives
    • Color laser printer for test prints, contact sheets, and documents
  • 103B – Lighting Studio – used primarily for The Constructed Image, but can be reserved outside of class
    • 1 iMac with tethering cables and software for Nikon and Canon cameras
  • B&W Darkroom and Film Room – an 18 station darkroom with two processing sinks and a film developing room with two processing sinks
  •  Print Finishing Room – used to finish your prints, cut mattes, and dry mount
  •  Photo Equipment Room (Aka “The Cage”) – home to the various photography equipment that can be borrowed in the building
