Welcome!

These are blog posts written by students in the Ornithology course BIO_493 at the State University of New York at New Paltz! Ornithology students read portions of the book Silence of the Songbirds by Bridget Stutchbury (2007) which introduces the main conservation threats faced by birds. After reading each chapter, groups of students read a set of current scientific research articles from the primary literature related to each topic covered in the book. Each student then writes a blog post intended for a general audience summarizing the overall topic, and one of the research articles.

Click the links below to access selected conservation blogs created by these students and begin to learn more about dangers impacting bird populations and possible solutions evaluated by scientific research.
