Peace Corps Campus Ambassador Internship
I am writing to let you know about an internship/volunteer opportunity for New Paltz students that doesn’t require them to leave campus. Peace Corps’ Campus Ambassador program is an undergraduate peer-to-peer brand ambassador program focused on ensuring that the Peace Corps’ Volunteer Corps represents the skills, talents, and diversity of the United States. Campus Ambassadors are student volunteers who work closely with their local Peace Corps recruiters to support broad-based, inclusive outreach efforts at their own college. The campus ambassadors utilize a variety of digital and in-person outreach techniques to introduce their peers to the opportunities that the Peace Corps provides.
Peace Corps Ambassador Role:
– Engage in many vibrant forms of student outreach on campus including developing relationships with professors and student club presidents, sharing Peace Corps with peers through presentations, tabling and social media, and coordinating events. Follow campus ambassadors using #PeaceCorpsOnCampus.
– All campus ambassadors are paired with the Peace Corps recruiter who covers their college or university.
– The recruiter will have specific goals for campus ambassadors to work towards but will also look to the campus ambassador for innovative ways to connect with diverse groups on campus.
– On average, campus ambassadors work less than five hours per week, and commit for the academic year. The campus ambassador position is unpaid.
Benefits:
– Professional mentorship and development from a Peace Corps Recruiter, including a letter of recommendation at the end of the year (contingent upon performance).
– Résumé-building experience with the Peace Corps, a U.S. federal agency focused on building the capacity of countries abroad. See agency mission.
