On Saturday, September 8th, 2018, Historic Huguenot Street will be hosting Old New Paltz Stone House Day, an event that will represent the 340th anniversary celebration of the settling of New Paltz by twelve French Huguenot refugees. Our mission for this event is to celebrate and honor the many peoples, cultures, eras, and events that have shaped our town into the modern community we know and love today.
We are mostly looking for volunteers to interpret the spaces in the historic houses throughout the day. Each volunteer would be provided with background information about the site and about the house they are stationed in, but would receive more in-depth information about the specific room in which they are to be stationed. On site training would take place in the weeks leading up the event.
The volunteers are not required to memorize anything. They are more than welcome to bring along, and read from, the information we provide them with.
Since the event will take place from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM, we would be offering two shifts to choose from. The first option would be the 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM shift. The second option would be the 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM shift.
For additional information or to sign up, please fill out the volunteer interest form  ONPSHD Volunteer Application 2018-29ijccc  and send to Kara at the email below.
