No automatic alt text available.AWARENESS, it is a substance abuse early intervention program that has been in existence for 12 years using evidence based practices.  It is a non-judgmental peer-to-peer educational program addressing behavioral health, substance use, anger, coping skills etc. for youth ages 16 to 18 and 19 to 24 to help them identify if behavior modification is needed.
AWARENESS serves over 100 participants a year with its 8-week program, as well as another 500 youth a year through presentations in high school health classes totaling 600 contacts a year. Moving into the Ellenville School district will mean we are actually doubling the number of youth served.
There are many opportunities to volunteer:

-We have an after school program in the New Paltz High School and meet at the United Methodist Church on Grove Street in New Paltz on Wednesdays. Our club is approved on campus and we are working on setting up meeting times now. Interested volunteers or club members can feel free to contact Marie through email ucawarenessprogram@gmail.com or text or call 845-417-1484
-We do Narcan Trainings for the public and can use help when we have those events.
-Students can train to be peer leaders, data entry, volunteer coordinator and we would love students interested in tabling, marketing, fundraising and grant writing.

-If anyone is interested in Criminal Justices we have a relationship with the New Paltz Court.
