Image result for woodstock film festival 2017The Woodstock Film Festival is gearing up for its 18th year and is looking for volunteers! If you are 16 or older and want to be a part of the action and lend your hand in bringing one of the top regional film festivals in the world back to the Hudson Valley, please fill out our online submission form (linked here) or email volunteers@woodstockfilmfestival.com. All volunteer positions are important. We are looking for help in all departments, but we would love to fill spots in venues, art, and pipe and drapes!
Festival dates are Wednesday through Sunday, October 11-15, 2017. If you are not available during the festival, talk to us about helping out before or afterwards.
Our special priorities are:
Art – Starts 10/9 through 10/15. They’ll be around Woodstock for the first few days and then move to Backstage Productions (BSP) (Wall St in Kingston) to set up for the awards
Pipe and drapes (10/10-15) will be in the Woodstock area on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 10-11, then move to BSP on ThursdaySunday.
 
Venues – WFF can use extra hands at each of the venues for the run of the festival (October 11-15): Woodstock Community Center, Upstate Woodstock, Bearsville, Woodstock Playhouse, Saugerties Orpheum Theater, Rosendale Theater, Upstate Rhinebeck

Woodstock Film Festival Volunteer Job Descriptions
Venues:
– Ticket taking
– Ushering
– On-site box office sales
– Assisting with line formation
– Distributing/collecting audience award ballots
– Playhouse venues volunteers assist with parking
Tech​:
– Set up venues
– Shoot cameras
– Record video
– Mix audio
– Light things
– Load/Unload trucks
– Relieve projectionists
– Digital Transfers
– Test and verify projection needs at each venue for setup
– Liaison between projectionists and tech dept.
– Film panels
– Extra hands to assist with Maverick Awards Ceremony for setup, run of
ceremony, and breakdown
– Multiple hands to assist with breaking down venues on final day
Art​ ​Department:
– Assist with decorating venues and/or for the Awards Ceremony
– Set Decorating
Pipe​ ​and​ ​Drape:
– Lifting and rigging
– Secure large piping, using ladders and getting your hands dirty
– Need around 2-3 volunteers each day of festival and one day after
– Manual labor
Press:
– Greeters
– Help with social media

Registration:
– In charge of signing in guests

Box​ ​Office:
– One person on hand to assist with sales each day week before fest
– Need to know computer programs
– These people need to be trained
Maverick​ ​Awards:
– 1-2 people assist with pipe and drape 2-3 days before ceremony
– 2-3 people to usher during cocktail hour
– 3-4 people to help seat people
Transportation:
– Picking up vehicles
– Driving filmmakers to various venues
– Shuttling to/from parties/awards ceremony
– Setting up/breaking down parking lots for parties
– Filmmaker pick up/drop offs from/to airports
– Returning vehicles
Office:
Before the festival:
– Distributing pre-fest programs to neighboring towns
– Folding/organizing merch (t-shirts)
– Prepping attendee packets/goodie bags
During the festival:
– Helping keep the office organized
– Helping manage volunteers
After the festival:
– Helping clean office
