Food Recovery Program
Thank you all for expressing interest in a Food Recovery Program that will FILL THE PANTRIES! Leftover food from Sodexo will now be collected and delivered to various local organizations to eliminate food waste and feed the hungry in our community.
1) Sodexo at SUNY New Paltz will label food and may, in some cases, freeze it until there is enough to pick up.
2) The Recycling Center will receive a phone call that there is food available
3) Volunteers will be contacted to pick up everything that Sodexo has prepared for us and will be directed as to where it should be delivered.
4) Food will go to Food Not Bombs (Wednesdays), Youth Center (any day), Family of New Paltz (Mon-Thurs) or Briar Creek Farm will take it if it can’t go anywhere for people.
If you are interested in volunteering to pick up and delivery food one day per week, every week while school is in session, please contact Laura Petit at the New Paltz Recycling Center (845) 255-8456. You will need reliable transportation for this program.
