Mohonk PreserveVolunteering/community service opportunities:

  • Fall cleanup work around the Visitors Center with staff: this work could include raking, leaf blowing, sweeping, pruning, and general landscaping work, for a few hours at a time on weekdays.
  • Remove leaf debris from the East Trapps Connector trail: this is work for 1-2 people, probably flexible in timing after initial training with MP staff
  • Paint the Breezy Lawn Barn in the Foothills: this would be a weeklong project with MP staff oversight, to paint much of the barn we own off Gatehouse Road, 1-3 students preferred
  • Clean-out culverts using hand tools, with staff: this is ongoing work throughout late October and November, taking place during the weekdays, with staff oversight.
  • Fall clean up at the historic Van Lueven cabin: including raking. The inside of the cabin needs to be cleaned too. This would include sweeping and dusting.
  • Help with Land Protection filing needs: one person, with staff introduction. This work could happen any time between 9 and 5 weekdays, for a few hours at a time. Documents need to be found, scanned, and in some cases re-filed. Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Pro would be helpful.

This work could happen any time, even remotely, and would take up to a week of reading and sourcing from multiple agencies and sources.
