For my final project I am using arduino to make a wearable mask based on the work of Lucy McRae and my lesson plan called Imagining Futures. In the end, I hope to have two parts to this mask. The main part is pictured above. I used my AT-Tiny and programmed each leg (0-4) to have blinking lights. I then attached it to the mask and separated each of the 5 programmed legs into two pathways to make 10 LED’s light up in total. I had originally planned for them to blink in a sequence moving down the mask, but due to the way the battery connects they seem to blink at random which I actually enjoy a lot more. The other aspect of the mask will eventually include another AT-Tiny programmed with a rapid fade function for 4 LED’s. This mask is based on my concept of a dystopian future in which we have to wear regulators to check our vitals due to the poor air quality.
Using a mask was a really cool idea, I would like to see the other side of it too/ see what it looks like while wearing it
Its great that an accident such as when the lights blink actually worked out for you! Attaching each leg of the ATtiny85 must have been frustrating, but seems like you made it out okay!
Thought your concept was so cool! I would love to see a fully fleshed out version. Even the placement of the tape looks aesthetically pleasing!
This is a super cool project. You really went above and beyond with the arduino and it was cool watching you really understand the program and explore it more. This is a really good idea for a project because not only is it visually interesting but discusses relevant and important topics such as pollution.
I definitely want one of these if i have to wear a respirator all the time. Great job on the circuitry and aesthetic.
I love the big idea for this project. Such a fun idea for students to really get creative with. The circuits look great despite the frustrations you mentioned!
I think this is a great idea. I love all the individuality that can come out of an assignment like this. I think students would really like to take their imagination into a project like this one.
I feel like we got a rad sneak peek when you showed us first at the table! The only thing I would change with this beautiful piece is the aluminum foil because I think it distracts/ takes away from the LEDs.
Very well thought out idea and super complicated product. I enjoy how the work becomes interactive with the wearability of the mask instead of just having it on display to be looked at. The dystopia future is a really interesting and creative direction to take the project in.
