Scratch Game

On thursday our class was introduced to a coding program called Scratch which allows its users to create and code their own games. After being introduced the basics, I messed around with the program and developed a simple game called “Don’t Hurt Ghostie.” In my game I drew two sprites- Ghostie and a Sword. The aim of the game is to not hurt ghostie. Every time you do, he gets smaller and spawns a clone until eventually they are too small and go poof. If all the Ghostie clones are defeated, game over! You hurt Ghostie.

If you decide to follow the game title and not hurt Ghostie, or hurt him very little, for 100 seconds you win!

However, if you keep hurting Ghostie post win game you still lose. There is a score counter that goes negative every time a Ghostie is defeated. This counter is mostly pointless because theres only a certain amount of ghosties that will ever spawn and be defeated before you lose, but I guess it helps suggest the immorality of hurting this soft boi.

All in all, a very fun program to use and only mildly frustrating! The pay off is quite entertaining.

If you’d like to play Don’t Hurt Ghostie (2.0 because I improved the glitches post class) follow this link~

  1. I love the little scream, its an easy to understand game and has super cute animation. Maybe try making another level to the game where ghostie moves around and you have to catch him
