This course explores the intersections of anthropology, robotics, and space exploration to examine how humanity defines itself in relation to technological advancements and the cosmos and how this varies across cultures. Through a combination of anthropological theories, case studies, and speculative scenarios, we critically assess topics such as human-machine boundaries, multispecies entanglements, ethical dilemmas in AI, and the socio-political implications of space colonization. Students will engage with diverse readings, films, and discussions to interrogate how technology and outer space challenge our understanding of culture, identity, and humanity’s future.
