Arduino Project

May 4, 2017 by lindenmj1 Leave a Comment

fireflies-vdrtr5 For my arduino project I did a watercolor painting of a jar in the night time. I then added yellow lights using the arduino to make them blink at different times to make them look like fireflies. I found the most difficult part of the project to be the arduino itself. When i worked … [Read more…]

IMG_2610-2308mkh IMG_2611-1qhi65x IMG_2613-2k3skgq After going through how to make these cars actually project forward we found that they needed two things they were lacking. The back tires needed traction to help them go and the car also needed weight. After we added those two things we finally saw results. We found that the straws were … [Read more…]

Maker Makey Exploration

April 26, 2017 by lindenmj1 Leave a Comment

Exploring with Makey Makey was fun. It was interesting to see what conductive materials you could use. By the end we used several wires and materials to create a keyboard that we could play on. We tried different things like holding hands and how it still works because it runs through us. It was fun … [Read more…]

Maker Day Reflection

April 26, 2017 by lindenmj1 Leave a Comment

I think overall maker day was a lot of fun. The kids really enjoyed making the wind up cars and came up with all different designs for their cars. They were very creative with it. It was a bit chaotic at times. We had struggles with the hot glue guns. Being we only had two … [Read more…]

Laser Cut

April 23, 2017 by lindenmj1 Leave a Comment

I think one of the things that helped the laser cut project go so smooth was making it in cardboard first. I was able to visualize the object in a 3D form, because working in illustrator is 2D and was more difficult to visualize. I struggled the most with getting the top of the petal … [Read more…]

Working with Tinkercad

April 23, 2017 by lindenmj1 Leave a Comment

I enjoyed working with tinkercad. I’ve had friends who have 3D printed before, but I never actually did it myself and thought it would be much more difficult. I liked using this program because it was simple and made it feel as though it was a 3D space. I had some difficulties with undercuts on … [Read more…]

Moving Pictures

March 12, 2017 by lindenmj1 Leave a Comment

We started off with a simple moving pin wheel to try to get movement. We added wheels using dowels and wooden cylinders to keep the wheels moving freely. At a point we adjusted the wheels to having only one set in the front and one wheel in the back like a tricycle, but that made … [Read more…]

Making a drawing machine

March 9, 2017 by lindenmj1 Leave a Comment

IMG_2385-qzkp69 Making the drawing machine we had to problem solve a bit. We noticed originally that having the cup the right way with the motor on the side messed up the weight distribution, so we flipped the cup. We also changed variables such as the size of the popsicle stick and its location. We realized … [Read more…]

Circuit Card

March 6, 2017 by lindenmj1 Leave a Comment

This is my finished card. Working with with the circuits and the light was very exciting. I thought it was going to very hard and confusing, but it really wasn’t. I liked incorporating my art into the light and making them interact in a way. Overall, I thought this project was very fun.
