Fieldwork
This page includes resources and activities to support student learning, my personal reflection on STEAM/STEM learning, and documentation of work that I have done with elementary students. My experience working with children in elementary settings began in the spring of 2014 when I began substitute teaching in the Hyde Park Public School District. During my degree work at Dutchess Community College from fall 2014 through fall 2015, I participated in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten fieldwork experiences at Poughkeepsie Day School and at The Randolph School. I have since worked at The Randolph School for two summers as both a summer camp assistant and a summer camp head teacher with children ranging in age from 3-11. My work at The Randolph School also includes one year of experience as the head after school teacher, working with children aged 3-11, where I planned and facilitated many activities that were appropriate for groups of children with varied age ranges, as well as a year working as an assistant teacher. My responsibilities as an assistant teacher have included independently teaching a group of six 2nd and 3rd grade students math, and acting as a co-teacher in theĀ 4th and 5th grade group, where I co-planned and assisted in executing literacy, social studies, science, and math learning projects. My fieldwork experiences during my degree work at SUNY New Paltz have so far included semester long experiences focused on literacy concepts and STEAM concepts through Wappingers Falls School District and through Numeracy Club at SUNY New Paltz.
