M.A. Reading, University of Northern Colorado
B.S. Special Education & Elementary Education, SUNY Geneseo
I taught in PreK-6th grades for ten years prior to dedicating myself to teacher preparation. My teaching experiences focused primarily on students with learning difficulties. As a literacy and special educator, I also supported school-wide literacy practices and professional development.
Since 2006, I have been committed to teacher preparation and development within undergraduate and graduate programs, school-university partnerships, and consulting. I have worked closely with teachers, school district administrators, and literacy specialists in Colorado, Rhode Island, and New York within my roles as professor, consultant, and researcher.
In addition to a passion for education and all things literacy, I enjoy spending time with family and friends as well as hobbies and outdoor activities. A few of my favorite pastimes are reading, playing violin/viola/guitar, knitting, crafting, photography, swimming, strength training, canoeing, hiking, and playing with my Australian Shephard/Australian Cattle dog, Pepper.
