I’m glad I was able to get outside while it was still warm. Its getting to a temperature that looks nice from inside but is pretty unpleasant when you really walk out into it. I also added some red into my painting, which I enjoyed. Over the weekend I asked my mom to bring me my paints and turpentine so I could paint while I was away, which spilled all over my car and gave us both a headache. So I finally went to Michaels, bought new turpentine and my favorite color, alizarin crimson, after a year without it. Alizarin crimson gives me the most beautiful, warm reds and oranges, but also the deepest black. (I don’t ever use black.)
I really love how you do not depict the generic fall scene. You are actually observing what is going on and using color in a way that aids this study. good job. I really like the texture of your paintings. Have you thought about using a palette knife instead of a brush?
I’ve tried to use palette knives before but they just irritate me! I love when other people use them, the textures always look so awesome, but I usually end up reworking the knife strokes. I will try it though!! Probably not on glass, it would just smear
Nice! I like how the bottom one almost looks like it’s on fire.
Taylor, I can remember you mentioning to me over the summer, you never used black… I was also taught the same in college! Have you ever considered doing some monochromatic works? I think you could take that idea really far because you are so skilled in painting light!
