So I’ve started to explore the possibilities of using ball-point pen in my work. I was inspired by Emil Ferris, who is also my second mentor artist. A little out of the ordinary, in fine art, but I love how the pen layers with the inks.

  1. Compared to the bold lines from the ink/paint, the pen seems much more delicate. The bird especially has a nice balance with the black and brown shapes its under. I’m really excited to see the final images! The use of lines and colors reminds me a lot of an artist named Eva Magill Oliver (I may have mentioned her to you before, I don’t remember). Nature and landscape inspire her work.

  2. Yes! Emil Ferris is having a moment right now… the graphic novel “my favorite thin is monsters”
    all in ballpoint.
dawn clements is another contemporary woman artist who makes amazing drawings in ballpoint…
