This is an acrylic on paper with wax ( Melissa and her current encoustic pieces havereally been inspiring me),  I’ve also been thinking about anatomy and cells in relation to my current research pertaining to students and special educational needs…

I manipulated the paper here with splattering techniques and pouring hot wax and inks onto the surface, using large paint brushes. Shaking the paper and moving it in multiple directions got me thinking about blood flow and ventricular movement. Currently, I have been looking at earlier paintings by artist Alex Grey and also Christian Faurrs ( I will post in depth more about his process later).

I did also make some paper this week for my book, I have just really been enjoying the process….

  1. Brette try a blow dryer or heat gun with your wax; you can manipulate it once it is on the surface. Be careful to never to over heat the wax. I know with beeswax if it starts to smoke you are over heating it. It has a tendency to be toxic with the damar resin.
