In The Get Down season 2 Mylene disco career is taking off for her. She’s becoming a disco star. Mylene’s father is taking control and pushing her towards only religious music for her career. The other hand Roy is trying to push her to be a lot more sexual for career. Mylene’s father in season 2 episode 2 is controlling her career that it has to be in the church and religious. A little bit after that Roy and Shane being scummy and making her panic by not calling her or answering if she is calling them etc. Due to the fact that if they make her panic she will be singing anything that they want her to sing. “But rap’s stars and the corporations that distribute their songs get away with and have profited handsomely from highly vulgar and explicit forms of sexism specifically targeting black women—a fact that only encourages other up-and-coming artists to follow in their misogy- nist footsteps to get famous and rich.” (151).
