I chose the song “White Man’s Got A God Complex” to relate to the reading because of what the song entails. The song speaks about how no matter what the white man does, they will always have a God complex in society’s eyes. In other words, the song speaks to how the white man is perceived in society compared to how the black man is perceived. The songs also speaks to the issue of the white man being seen as pure and wholesome, almost heavenly just because of the color of their skin. In the Forman reading (pg. 11), the author speaks about how rap not only entertains but also brings issues like this to light. The author states that not only is rap preaching about social issues, but rap is also doing so in a unique and flowing way that invites listening ears to become in tune with the topic being rapped about.
