Electric Origami

  • Electric Origami was similar to the last two challenges because all three were somewhat new to me and were new experiences. Although, this activity was different with the fact that it combined the use of technology and non-digital materials.
  • Thinking of a design was easy, even though I had to give it a try three times, I stayed with the same design from the first attempt.
  • Origami, itself is a learning process because everything from step one and on has to be exactly precise, otherwise it won’t come out as its best. I also learned that mixing technology with typical crafts/art can enhance it, and also can refine technological skills. Using the copper tape, and battery to get the LED to work was definitely the most challenging, but it was most fun because when it finally worked it was very satisfying.
  • This is a great challenge to use in a classroom because everyone gets to make their own, and everyone’s choices of design, color and execution says a little something about their personalities and their creative side. It might even be a good idea to either assign, or allow groups to pick themselves and word and for every person in that group to make a design relating to it. For example the word choices could be tools, or animals. Everyone in the tools group would make a tool out of origami, and everyone in the other group would make different animals.

My first, second and third attempt.

  • My two puppies.
