Black Lives Matter at School – SUNY New Paltz MISSION STATEMENT
During the weeks of February 3-7 and 24-29, 2020, events will take place dedicated to provoking deep thought and discussion regarding issues of racism on our campus and society at large. As a community of students, staff, faculty, and administrators at a public higher education institution, it is our duty to engage each other across hierarchical structures, to learn, explore, and address issues of systemic racism and discrimination throughout our campus. The Black Lives Matter at SUNY New Paltz Weeks of Action will build momentum for persistent and sustained critical reflection, discussion, and action in regards to issues of racial inequality, inequity, and injustice on our campus, that will go beyond the year 2020.

At fall planning meetings, we set goals for our campus community, brainstormed activities, and considered ways to make our predominantly white institution (PWI) increasingly anti-racist.
