The workshopExploring Micro-Credentials, will be held at the College Terrace on Wed. Feb. 13 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Lunch will be provided. The workshop is co-sponsored by the Applied Learning Task Force and Faculty Governance and will be facilitated by New Paltz faculty. Cynthia Proctor, Director of Communications and Academic Policy Development at SUNY System Administration, will join us. She will introduce the workshopand will be on hand to work with faculty and answer questions.

This workshop is intended as an opportunity for us to explore, in a more tangible way, the possibilities for and implications of offering micro-credential programs, and to take a careful look at the proposed SUNY New Paltz policy. It is intended for teams of 2-5 faculty, although faculty also may participate individually. Teams may consist of faculty in the same area or in multiple disciplines and departments, including areas in Student Affairs. If you and your colleagues have been thinking about developing a micro-credential program, this is a wonderful opportunity to explore innovative possibilities.

At the workshop, faculty will conduct case studies examining potential micro-credential programs in their areas in light of the considerations and requirements of the proposed policy. The benefit to faculty will be the opportunity to get a head start on program development, should our campus proceed with micro-credentials. The greater benefit will be the ideas for improvements to the policy that may arise from these discussions. This will ensure that the policy that goes for senate vote in March will be practical, efficient, and comprehensive.

To register for the workshop, please click the link below, complete the form, and submit it by 4:00 PM on Thurs. Feb. 7, 2019. Teams may submit just one form indicating the names of all team members.
