Dear Professor, Clasby-Wilson

I’m writing to reflect on my experience in ENG170, a course that has had a significant impact on both my academic and personal development. Throughout this course, I have faced challenges, discovered strengths, and gained a greater respect for the power of language and literature.

From the start, ENG170 piqued my interest with its examination of many literary works from various genres, time periods, and cultural settings. The range of works we worked with—from classic novels to current poetry—provided a rich tapestry for exploring complicated issues, views, and human experiences. Each reading assignment was more than just an academic exercise; it was an opportunity to explore the depths of human consciousness and empathy.

One of the most enjoyable features of ENG170 was the ability to have meaningful conversations with my peers. The classroom became a lively place where ideas were discussed, interpretations were questioned, and varied perspectives were heard. Through these exchanges, I got vital insights into opposing ideas, improved my analytical skills, and learnt to approach books with an open mind and critical eye.

Furthermore, the writing tasks in ENG170 pushed me beyond my comfort zone and motivated me to improve my written communication skills. Whether writing analytical essays, reflective journals, or creative replies, I learnt how to express myself clearly, coherently, and convincingly. The input I received from my instructor and peers helped me discover areas of development and strive for excellence in my writing.

Looking back on my ENG170 experience, I am grateful for the opportunity to immerse myself in the world of literature and language. This training has broadened my academic horizons while also improving my understanding of myself and the world around me. As I continue my academic journey, I carry with me the lessons gained and experiences created in ENG170, knowing that they will inspire and lead me in all my future pursuits.

Thank you for providing me with this transformative learning opportunity. I am excited to apply the knowledge and abilities I gained in ENG170 to my future academic and professional interests.

Sincerely, Eric Fonseca
