Academic Integrity Statement:

The works submitted in this portfolio maintain academic integrity and do not violate the university’s policy outlined below.

Academic Integrity Pledge

Students are expected to produce original writing and work for their courses as per university’s Academic integrity policy. Any reference to ideas or language created by another person or technology such as Artificial Intelligence must be ethically cited and referenced sparingly within the guidelines of the instructor’s syllabus.

Students are expected to maintain the highest standards of honesty in their college work. Cheating, forgery, and plagiarism are serious violations of academic integrity. Students found guilty of any violation of academic integrity are subject to disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion. New Paltz’s undergraduate and graduate academic integrity policies are published in the respective catalogs. Sojourner Truth Library’s website contains several excellent resources to help with avoiding plagiarism.

Most of our courses prohibit the use of ChatGPT or any Generative AI tools when composing content for course assignments. AI editing and paraphrasing tools like, but not limited to Grammarly, Scribbr, QuillBot, etc. which significantly alter syntax, tone & writing style/voice, are also not permitted. However, students may use basic spelling & grammar check software already built into Microsoft Word online.

*I understand that any breach of academic integrity as noted on individual course syllabi may result in failure for the assignment and/or course, and that the instructor is required to report such cases.
