3 things I learned
1. When you take your child to places that correspond to what they’re interested in (animals, music, sports) you increase their ability to comprehend text when they begin to read
2. Writing workshop time is separated from other subjects that involve writing( science, social studies)
3. It’s best for student to act out “how to” writing piece
2 connections made
- In my fieldwork class were currently doing a class research on bees. A lot of the bee books the kids are reading are full of blurbs that capture the student’s attention
- My children in field work also had to write dash facts in their own words about the bees they were researching
1 thing I’m still wondering about
How can students from poor backgrounds keep their interests alive outside of the classroom?
