3 things I learned
- prematurely teaching a child something is robbing them of a chance to understand it completely by themselves.
- Giving the children time to just explore a “sea” of nonfiction book reward them with experience.
- Just like narrative text, informational text can be predictable as well.
2 Connections
- I connect the first thing I learned with Vygotsky zone of proximal development. As an educator, you need to realize its a fine line between guiding the child and robbing them of a chance to understand the work.
- Every morning in my field work class the teacher give the children 10 mins to roam in the library to choose a book to take home.
1 thing I’m still wondering about
What are some effective lessons we can use to teach children how to read for information?
