“Not all cisgender people are gender conforming, and not all transgender people are gender nonconforming”
This is interesting because I think that this is a stereotype that people put on both cis and transgendered people. For example not all transgender woman dress feminine, and not all cis people dress their “gender”. A cis girl may dress more masculine.

Gender Dysphoria: mental diagnosis from American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
As mentioned in the article, this is incredibly controversial. Because it is classified as an illness/disease, people are required to get treatment or medical attention, which can hurt a person who is attempting to figure out who they are. I personally cannot believe that it is classified as a mental disorder, I have never heard of that before and it blows my mind.

“All people express a gender” (through their appearance)
I don’t know if I really agree with this statement. I sometimes look at a person and can’t tell if they identify as a boy or a girl. I don’t think it it’s necessary for a person to express a certain gender, and I also don’t believe that this is completely something that exists.

“For some young children, identifying as another gender may be temporary; for others it isn’t.”
This is interesting! I wonder why that is. How do we, as future teachers, navigate this in our classroom?

“Adolescents who are best informed about sexuality are more likely to postpone sex”
WOAH! That is really interesting. I have heard that if you educate kids on sex, they are less likely to have sex at a younger age, but I’ve never heard of it with sexuality. I wonder why that is!

“Uncertainty and navigating schools”
This is where we come in! Students struggling with gender issues are uncomfortable in schools, so we need to make it comfortable for them. What are some ways we can do this?? (Bathrooms, pronoun announcing, education, etc.)
