The first version of the story is the most memorable one to me because it was the first one I read, and the other ones just did not compare in the slightest. Despite each version having the same exact idea, the first version was the easiest to understand. It was short, simple and yet enough to be thought-provoking. The major differences between each version were length and way of telling it. The first two versions were the shortest and the last two were the longest. Also, between versions 1, 2 and 4 there is a significant difference between content. In versions 1, 2 and 4 the thing that brings the old man luck is a horse while in version 3 it was a bunch of different things including a river and money. The third one also made me feel less compassionate as it was more about monetary value than luck.
